Choosing the right skate length

We recommend:

43 cm: For people with low body weight and (European) shoe sizes of 35-36

46/48 cm: For people who wear shoe size 37 or larger and want skates that turn easily

51/53 cm: For people who want skates that yield a more powerful guide and run more smoothly on bumpy ice, and for those who are a little taller or heavier. These lengths are a good choice for most people who wear size 42-43 shoes.

Adjusting your skates for maximum balance

Loosen the screws on the fixed bindings until you can slide them forwards and backwards.

Set the distance between the front and back binding so that your boot is fixed securely between them. Tighten the bindings.

Put on your boots/skates and check your balance. The balance is good when you are able to stand steadily and your feet do not tip inwards or outwards. Do you need the toes in a bit more? One heel out just a smidgeon? Adjust the toe and heel of the boot to match your body.

Go out on the ice for a test run. Adjust the bindings until they fit your personal balance and skating style. And don’t be afraid to ask a more experienced skater for advice.
